Most friends describe me as that stoic, artistic, mysterious, and interesting. I'm the guy you notice at the coffee house with the shaved head drinking soy chai, reading Kafka or journaling. My youngest sister claims I have the deepest brooding brown eyes she's ever seen, while the rest of my family calls me the "artistic one with a gypsy heart" I love the smells and sounds of forests, homemade soup, the giggles of my five year old niece, live music, smart girls, Thom's of Maine gingermint toothpaste, good stories set to music, journaling, b&w photography, NPR, irony, old Woody Allen movies, handmade soap, pumpkins, girls in wool sweaters, hiking & spelunking, the view from my apartment of the Olympics and Lake Union, autumn, stories of NYC, long drives, travel adventures off the beaten path and people watching. I think a good smile and a wry sense of humor are sexier than anything a woman could buy for herself and the two things I can let draw me in are soft eyes and that right laugh. Yes, it's true I've paid more for books than most people pay for cars. Though I'm not much for commercial radio, I probably will have you craving to hear a mixed cd or borrowing half a dozen books before the end of our first conversation. I've always felt it's not what you own, it's what you do with your time that makes you interesting. I feel comfortable with politically progressive people who have open hearts and minds, who breathe deeply and exhale kindness. I tend to have vivid dreams that stick with me for days as I ponder them. I'm one of those quiet thinking types who believe life is mysterious, poetic, and experimental.

I gravitate toward people who are artistic, smart, eclectic, mysterious, independent, have a wry sense of humor and peaceful sense of style. I'm attracted to women who fit effortlessly into New York or San Francisco. They're introspective and politically progressive, yet are connected just enough to their own neurosis to still be silly and fun. They read Ms., Mother Jones, The Village Voice and the NY Times and stay pretty informed. They read Prozac Nation, The Vagina Monologues, The Bell Jar and identified with parts, then laugh along with books by Holly Hughes, David Sedaris and Rebecca Wells. They still go to the library and love books. They listen to This American Life and dance in their pajamas if the mood strikes them. They listen to Neko Case, Gillian Welch, Bikini Kill, Aberdeen, The Donnas, Death Cab for Cutie, Stereolab, Belle and Sebastian, Nick Drake, Wilco, Nina Simone, Morcheeba, Leonard Cohen, Lucinda Williams, Catpower, Black Box Recorder, Pink Martini, Royksopp, Ani DiFranco, Nick Cage, Aimee Mann, Beth Orton and even like Johnny Cash, but their musical is incredibly eclectic and flavorful. They shop at places like WholeFoods, Anthropologie and funky shops downtown that help them create their own sense of style. They're more likely to wear oils than perfume, and are more the African tribal art jewelry type than the pearl and diamonds type. They have a sense of spirituality even if they aren't religious, maybe they even enjoyed The Power of Myth. They enjoy plays, independent films, blueberries, people watching, windy day and wool sweaters. They're pro-choice and their mothers are pro-choice. They're not extroverted, yet they radiate this kind of karma and energy that draws positive, interesting people to their lives. They travel, create art, read, cry, dream, love, enjoy personal space, laugh and want to experience life. They're lovely and amazing. In other words, they're Mary Louise Parker meets Hope Davis.
