The Northern Star was first published in 1899 under the name "Northern Illinois." It became a daily newspaper in 1965. It's consistently rated in the top 20 of the nation's 103 daily college newspapers. Our circulation is 16,000 papers a day and reaches not only NIU students, faculty and staff, but also the DeKalb community. Plus, our World Wide Web site reaches alumni across the country.
